Introduction
Christian education plays a vital role in shaping the lives of students, imparting not only knowledge but also values and principles rooted in the Christian faith. At Houma Christian School (HCS), we are dedicated to providing a holistic educational experience that combines academic excellence with spiritual growth. In this article, we will explore the various aspects of Christian education at HCS and the impact it has on our students.
The Role of HCS Clubs and Organizations
At HCS, we believe in providing our students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Our clubs and organizations offer opportunities for students to develop their talents, leadership skills, and character.
Beta Club and National Honor Society
The Beta Club and National Honor Society are prestigious organizations that recognize academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Through these clubs, students have the chance to participate in service projects, develop their leadership skills, and make a positive impact in the community.
Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association at HCS allows students to actively participate in the decision-making process of the school. This organization provides a platform for students to voice their opinions, plan events, and contribute to the overall school community.
Worship Team
The Worship Team at HCS leads students in worship during chapel services and other school events. This team not only guides students in their spiritual growth but also helps create a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere during worship gatherings.

High school students will be dismissed at 10:35 AM, and elementary students at 11:00 AM. All games and practices for the day have been canceled. Classes will resume at normal times on Tuesday, the 9th. Stay safe!
Math Lesson and Student of the Month Winners
In the latest math lesson, sixth graders at HCS engaged in a hands-on activity where they sorted M&M’s by color and used the data to explore ratios. This interactive approach to learning helps students connect mathematical concepts to real-world situations.
Congratulations to our Student of the Month winners who were recognized for their outstanding effort. We are proud of each of you for embodying the virtue of “Effort” in your academic pursuits.
PTC Meeting Announcement
Parents, mark your calendars for the monthly PTC meeting on Tuesday, January 9th at 5:30 PM. The meeting will take place in the Blended classroom. We encourage all parents to attend and actively participate in the school community.

Tacky Sweater Day and Field Trips
Today at HCS, students celebrated Tacky Sweater Day, showcasing their outrageous and fun sweater choices. Laughter filled the halls as students embraced the festive spirit.
The Blended class had an exciting field trip to Breaking the Code, a thought-provoking experience that challenged their problem-solving skills. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious lunch at El Paso, creating lasting memories with their classmates.
Third Grade Economics Project
In the third grade, students put their business skills to the test with a hands-on economics project. They opened their own store, providing an opportunity for them to learn about entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Our staff had a great time shopping at their store, supporting their learning journey.
Midterm Exams and Schedule
Parents, please take note of the upcoming midterm exams at HCS. From December 12th to December 15th, high school students will have half days for exams. 7th and 8th graders will have a test in each class, with 8B having a Physical Science midterm. Students who are exempt from an exam do not need to attend that period. The exam schedule is as follows:
- The first exam of each day is from 7:26 AM to 9:00 AM.
- The second exam is from 9:05 AM to 10:35 AM.
On Friday, December 8th, B day exams will be reviewed. If your child is exempt from all B day exams, they are excused from attending on Friday. On Monday, December 11th, A day exams will be reviewed. If your child is exempt from all A day exams, they are excused from attending on Monday. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us. Blessings to all our students as they prepare for their exams!
